Meet Gabriel Jones
Gabriel is a 40-something Canadian. He moved to Sayulita with his wife, Wendy, about eight years ago with their two Canadian Chihuahuas. Their original plan was to take a one- year break from their busy city lives before returning tot the bustle and beauty of Vancouver. That plan changed shortly after they arrived. They realized that life in Sayulita was too good to limit ourselves to just one year
For his first four years in Mexico, Gabriel worked for a Canadian magazine, Mexi-Go!. He had the opportunity to travel all over this beautiful country. As he experienced Mexico, he fell more in love with each adventure, but also grew to appreciate Sayulita more each time he returned home. His wife Wendy works from home as a project managern so they rented a few different casas for the first four years in Sayulita. They also experimented with living in different parts of town before eventually buying a fixer upper on the southside of town. Four years ago, it was a modest one story house in a great neighborhood. Now, it’s Casa Vecino Guesthouse. With the help of their business partner Peter, they started an ambitious renovation. They added two more floors to the main house then built a smaller standalone building in the backyard with a refreshing saltwater swimming pool.
Casa Vecino Sayulita
The concept for the guesthouse actually came about Gabriel’s early 20’s when he took a small business development course. His final project was a business plan about operating a bed and breakfast on the beach. He is so thrilled that I was able to pursue an idea that started as a class project. Hosting guests and making sure they have the best vacation possible is one of Gabriel’s favorite things to do in life. Building and running this beautiful property with his wife, according to him, is literally a dream come true.
The project took just under a year to complete and they decided on the name Casa Vecino. They chose the name because vecino, ‘neighbor’ in Spanish, is his nickname in the neighborhood. They want everyone who stays with them to feel like the friendliest neighborhood in Sayulita is their neighborhood.
This new and thoughtfully designed vacation rental complex is comprised of 2 buildings surrounded by a security wall. Casa Vecino Sayulita has 4 separate rental units or the entire guesthouse can be rented. The property features a heated saltwater pool, rooftop patio with a beautiful ocean view, high- speed internet, extra comfortable premium king-sized mattresses, AC, ceiling fans, and well-appointed kitchens.
Casa Vecino Sayulita is located in the lovely and vibrant beach town of Sayulita, 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta.
