Our Story

Gabriel and Wendy are the managing partners of Casa Vecino Guesthouse. They are a 40-something couple who love meeting new people, travel, great food and drink, sunshine, beaches, nature and animals. 7 years ago, they traded their busy city lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for what was originally meant to be a 1-year break from the Pacific Northwest rain and grey skies in the Sayulita sunshine. It did not take long for them to realize that Sayulita provided all the things they loved, and they fell head over heels in love with the town, the community and the surrounding natural beauty. Fast forward to 2016; they had the opportunity to purchase their first casa, a small house on a large lot which the couple had previously rented in a charming residential neighborhood on Sayulita’s friendly southside. Then with the help of their good friend and now business partner Peter, they started an ambitious renovation of the one-story casa. After a 10-month construction project, Casa Vecino was born and Gabriel realized a lifetime dream to own and operate a tropical guesthouse. Gabe and Wendy still live on the ground floor of the main house but now host guests in 4 units built above and in the back of the original casa. They take pride in their town and are happy to share suggestions and tips with guests about where to eat and what to do. In addition to working lots (Wendy is a project manager working from a satellite home office at Casa Vecino and Gabriel is a property manager and realtor), the couple is passionate about animal rescue and have a regular stream of rescued cats and dogs being fostered and readied for adoption as well as an awesome crew of permanent cats and dogs at their casa. Gabriel also organizes volunteer beach and street clean-ups to help keep Sayulita beautiful. The couple agrees that with each passing day they love Sayulita more and can’t wait to share this little bit of paradise with you!
